A chance for those who studied at Preston Polytechnic to relive memories of their university days is being offered.

What’s now the University of Lancashire is inviting anyone who attended either Lancashire Poly or Preston Poly between 1973 and 1992 back to campus.

A trip down memory lane is being offered at the free event on Friday 5 June from 12.30pm to 5.30pm.

And university archivist Francesca Robinson will take people into the archives to see memorabilia, photographs and artifacts from the Polytechnic days.

A student-led campus tour will take guests on a walkaround to see how things have changed, or not, in the past 50 years and take in many of the new multi-million pound buildings which have been built since.

A drinks reception will then take place for people to share stories and reminisce about when pints were no doubt a lot cheaper.

Head of development and alumni at the city’s university, Maggie Wild, said: “Our Polytechnic years were a formative and significant period in our history, and we are delighted to welcome alumni back to campus.

“This reunion offers a valuable opportunity to reconnect with fellow graduates, reflect on shared experiences from the 1970s through to the early 1990s, and see how the University has evolved while retaining the spirit from those earlier times.”

Anyone who wants to attend can sign up via Eventbrite to secure their free place.

The university is preparing to mark 200 years of learning in Preston in 2028.
