The 22-year-old said: “My artwork was inspired by a personal experience of abuse. Each of my sculptures represents a different woman who has gone through some sort of horrible situation in their lives. I have brought them all together as victims so they can find each other, talk and love each other.

“I’m also using my artwork to raise donations for the charity Refuge to ensure this vital service helps more women escape domestic abuse.”

53-year-old mature student Nicola Ashton-Koch has returned to study to undertake a fine art course.

Nicola, from Euxton, said: “Commuting on to campus four days a week and using the first-class facilities has been wonderful. After raising a family, I’ve finally been able to do something in life just for myself.”

The university is also encouraging tours from sixth form or college students to see the artworks, these can be booked via collegevisits@lancashire.ac.uk

If you want to go and view the exhibition you can register for a timeslot on weekdays and Saturdays until 26 June between 11am and 3pm using the university website.
