UK and Ireland law firm Browne Jacobson has appointed Paul Duggan as a partner in its Cardiff office as it continues to expand its legal services in Wales.

Paul will lead the firm’s Welsh-based Banking and Finance team, strengthening its full-service offering in the capital.

The appointment follows a period of significant growth for Browne Jacobson’s Cardiff operation, which relocated to a permanent 9,500 sq ft office at One Central Square in January.

The team has expanded from seven to more than 50 people during the past three years. Paul joins nine partners and three legal directors already based in the Welsh capital.

He advises on a wide range of debt finance transactions, with a particular focus on acquisitions, management buy-outs and refinancing.

His clients include banks and lenders, corporate borrowers, sponsors, private equity houses, not-for-profit organisations and public sector bodies.

Paul Duggan said: “Browne Jacobson is exactly the right firm to be building a banking and finance practice here in Cardiff. The office has grown at pace, and I’m excited by the energy and intent behind the firm’s investment in Wales. I want to be part of building something lasting here, bringing banking and finance advice to clients across Wales and the wider UK.”

Paul’s appointment follows several other recent arrivals at the firm.

Principal associates Rhodri Glyn, who specialises in real estate finance, and Sian Reynolds, who works in commercial property, have joined Browne Jacobson’s national real estate practice.

Associate James Griffin, who specialises in social housing, has also joined the practice, which comprises more than 130 specialists across eight offices and advises on commercial, residential, development and investment matters.

Associate Vasuki Gnanan has joined the firm’s growing construction team, which operates across the eight offices.

Tim Edds, Partner and Head of Cardiff at Browne Jacobson, added: “Paul is a significant appointment for our Cardiff office. Bringing in a dedicated banking and finance partner of his calibre reflects both where we are now and where we are going. He is exactly the kind of lawyer clients in this market need: technically excellent, commercially minded and straightforward to work with. Combined with the recent additions to our real estate and construction teams, we have a genuinely comprehensive offering in Cardiff.”

The development of Browne Jacobson’s Cardiff operation forms part of its wider growth strategy across the UK and Ireland. The firm launched in Dublin in 2022 and expanded into Belfast earlier in 2026.

Paul’s arrival takes the number of lateral partner appointments made across Browne Jacobson’s UK and Ireland network to 15 in the past 12 months.
